The Challenge:
To provide solutions which satisfied noise reduction recommendations resulting from engine run-ups and taxiing at a busy downtown Toronto airport.
The Innovation:
To come up with the best solutions, Aercoustics created detailed, creative computer models of the airport and the impacts both taxiing and engine run-ups had on neighbouring lands. Working with NAV Canada, our work resulted in a six-metre-high, 82-metre-long barrier built with a rigid vinyl structure and a new and recycled PVC core. This solution brought the sound levels down as predicted, satisfying the recommendations.
