The Challenge:

Aercoustics is proud to have supported the design and renovation of this new state-of-the-art studio & sports hub in the Rogers campus/heritage building. The project features two new studio sets — Studio 31 (2,500 sq. ft.) and Studio 32 (3,900 sq. ft.) — and a pair of state-of-the-art control rooms. The studios are dedicated to the Hockey Night in Canada program. Iconic programming that required top tier performance.

There are significant noise and vibration sources near the studio including emergency vehicle and heavy truck traffic (a source of low frequency noise) and TTC subway underneath the building, presenting a significant challenge for noise isolation.

The Innovation:

Aercoustics conducted measurements of noise from the subway and traffic running near the building, provided detailed design, construction document review, and support during Contract Administration. Interventions included adding an internal acoustic barrier along the exterior façade to block noise from the busy urban street outside. This new studio is a flexible and versatile space, helping SportsNet deliver interactive, immersive, and innovative media content.
