The Challenge:
Aercoustics is managing the noise and vibration impacts of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel project, as the expert partner of Ontario Transit Group. This project is a significant portion of one of Canada’s largest infrastructure projects. The southern section of the Ontario Line will tunnel through dense neighbourhoods, filled with sensitive buildings and operations. Our challenge is to provide effective management and monitoring of construction noise and vibration to meet Metrolinx standards and contract requirements.
The Innovation:
As part of the contract’s environmental requirements, Aercoustics is responsible for managing noise and vibration issues during the construction. We have set up our advanced noise and vibration monitoring system (expected to consist of 100+ monitors at the project’s peak), designed and applied solutions to reduce noise and vibration impacts and offered advice and assistance at meetings with both Metrolinx and Ontario Transit Group, as well as developing outreach and education materials for communication with the public.
