The Challenge:

Create a calm space that includes a peace garden and concert hall next to one of the noisiest highways in the country.

The Innovation:

To control noise, we used sophisticated 3-D environmental noise modelling calibrated to actual site measurements. To keep the recital hall quiet, we used an HVAC displacement system. This system is one in which Aercoustics has done a great amount of fundamental research.

Another design recommendation was to improve room acoustics by raising the ceiling from the original plan. So, as cars and trucks thunder by, serenity within the museum brings calm and peace to its visitors.
