The Challenge:

Home to Mount Allison University’s fine and performing arts programs. The arts centre houses studios, workshops, offices, classrooms, meeting spaces, and a flexible 100-seat theatre with separate staging and assembly space. Aercoustics was tasked with acoustics for formal and informal learning spaces, with the client prioritizing flexibility. The black box theatre has retractable seating to accommodate thrust, arena or proscenium productions.

The Innovation:

Aercoustics worked with the design team to ensure the overall acoustic comfort was maintained. The theatre was the particular concern for this project. The overall architectural and mechanical noise control as well as room acoustics was reviewed, and designs integrated into the ultimate construction.
