QEII Health Sciences Centre Renewal

Location:

  • Eastern Canada

The Challenge:

Densification and critical enhancements to essential infrastructure are priorities in any growing city. With construction occurring near sensitive spaces, acoustic consulting for laboratory facilities plays a crucial role in noise and vibration control, ensuring the protection of structures and the uninterrupted operation of essential services.

The Innovation:

Aercoustics developed project-specific protocols to effectively manage noise and vibration impacts during the construction of Mount Sinai Hospital Renewal Phase III (Toronto) and the QEII Halifax Infirmary Hospital Renovation/New Build (Halifax). As part of our work, we provided acoustic consulting for laboratory facilities, including measurements of simulated construction activities to establish interior noise and vibration limits. Our expertise included implementing controls for noise and vibration, as well as simulating different mitigation strategies. Through our acoustic consulting for laboratory facilities, we set clear expectations for stakeholders while safeguarding critical environments such as imaging, surgical, and procedural spaces from excessive noise and vibration.
