The Challenge:
Densification and critical enhancements to essential infrastructure are priorities in any growing city. With construction so close to sensitive uses, noise and vibration control becomes a top concern – from protecting structures to keeping essential services running smoothly.
The Innovation:
Aercoustics developed project specific protocols to better control the noise and vibration that may be generated during the construction of Mount Sinai Hospital Renewal Phase III (Toronto) and the QEII Halifax Infirmary Hospital Renovation/New Build (Halifax). We provided construction noise and vibration management services, including measurements of simulated construction activities to help craft limits for interior noise and vibration levels during construction, controls for noise and vibration, and simulation of these different controls. Our services helped establish realistic expectations for the projects’ stakeholders and helped to protect sensitive spaces including imaging, surgical, and procedural uses from significant noise and vibration.
