The Challenge:
To ensure that this multi-use building has outstanding acoustic design while also meeting rigorous sustainability standards, including LEED Gold Certification.
The Innovation:
The new 15,200-square-metre mass timber Royal British Columbia Collections and Research Building will provide critical infrastructure to preserve the province’s collection of over 7 million culturally significant items, and the BC Archives, along with dedicated research labs and learning resources. The building will also be an open public space, welcoming the community and visitors to listen, learn, and become part of the story, with improved access to the vast and diverse collections. The building itself aims to encourage dialogue, exploration, and connection between people and with the land through thoughtful layouts and design details. Aercoustics is currently providing acoustic design services for this project.
