The Challenge:
The main challenge was integrating open office and traditional office uses with musical performance and recording. The 19,000 sf Sony Music fit-out features open and closed office areas, meeting rooms, a boardroom, writer’s rooms, a listening lounge, and lunchroom lounge. The writer’s rooms function as recording studios and control rooms. Aercoustics worked closely with the design team and the client to express Sony Music’s culture in the acoustic design.
The Innovation:
We were successful in delivering quiet spaces and privacy without sacrificing Sony’s culture and expectation of a musical office. We collaborated with iN STUDIO to design and implement sound solutions for various spaces. We made sure that the sound was clear and isolated, so that different activities could happen at the same time without interference. We applied our expertise to create the best acoustic environment for each space, from the state-of-the-art Recording Studio to the flexible open work area.
