The Challenge:
The South Niagara Hospital will be a comprehensive acute care facility, centralizing a variety of patient care of the region. The hospital will have a 24-hour Emergency department and provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical services, as well as medical, surgical, and intensive care inpatient beds. The hospital will also offer Ambulatory Services and post-acute Complex Continuing Care (CCC) Inpatient services. The project has required sophisticated, full service acoustic design services to meet the performance specifications across many risk areas: sensitive diagnostic imaging suites, noise and vibration intrusion from the adjacent rail line, auditorium acoustics, patient comfort, and acoustics for WELL certification.
The Innovation:
Aercoustics is working with EllisDon to provide acoustic design services for the delivery of the South Niagara Hospital, following the joint success of the pursuit submission under Infrastructure Ontario’s Design, Build, Finance, Maintain project delivery. The hospital is expected to open 2028. Aercoustics’ team is crafting our recommendations to meet the strict performance specifications while exploring opportunities to improve design and optimize for cost savings.
