The Challenge:
After the expansion of the Tufts Cove power plant, noise complaints were received from the surrounding community when the new generators were running.
The Innovation:
Aercoustics conducted a complete and comprehensive noise measurement survey of the entire generating facility to quantify the noise impacts of each component. This work was then used to develop a detailed noise model of the facility, calibrated with measurements taken at the nearby houses during operation. This model was used to identify the highest contributors to the sound levels and develop an abatement plan to mitigate the noise impact on the community.
