The Challenge:

Aercoustics provided acoustic design services for the modern community library and resource centre renovation and addition. The 18,000 sf, 129-year heritage building houses a teen-managed event space, a reading area, restaurant, family discovery centre and digital learning labs and a workshop. This adaptive re-use project transforms a heritage structure to accommodate a ‘bookless’ library. We were tasked with evaluating the existing heritage building and incorporating appropriate acoustic design strategies.

The Innovation:

The design renovates and restores the existing post office building, floating above the Grand River. Aercoustics recommendations met modern acoustic performance targets while maintaining the character and design integrity of the project.
