The Challenge:
Aercoustics provided vibration consulting services for the Remai Modern Art Gallery located in Saskatoon, SK. The Class A gallery opened in 2017 to great acclaim. The four-storey, cantilevered, 124,000 sq. ft., building houses 11 gallery spaces over three floors, studios, a theatre, a restaurant, a gift shop, and multi-use public spaces. Without intervention, cantilevered floor plates are not stiff enough to host large groups and dances without producing unacceptable levels of vibration.
The Innovation:
Aercoustics’ experts provided floor vibration analysis and parameter design for the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) to address vibration concerns.
